Life in Illinois is slowly starting to come back to normal. Even though things are getting more relaxed, taking a flight out of town can still be a little scary. Fortunately, Illinois is home to many beautiful beaches with different settings ranging from upbeat and lively to relaxing and more family-oriented. Along the shoreline, the Chicagoland area has many beautiful beaches for residents to enjoy. Here are a few of the best beaches in the Chicagoland area:
Oak Street Beach
Located at 1000 North Lake Shore Drive, Oak Street Beach is one of the most popular beaches in downtown Chicago. It’s a great spot to sunbathe while enjoying a burger at Cafe Oliva. The beach has a beautiful view of the skyline.
Montrose Beach
If you are looking for something fun for your furry friend, Montrose beach is a great spot to go. Montrose beach has a fenced-off area, allowing your dog to run around and play with other dogs. Montrose is located at 4400 North Lake Shore Drive.
Highland Park Beach
Highland Park beach is located in the northern suburbs of Chicago. You will love to lay back and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the waves and the warm sand on your feet. The fee to enter is $10, and most agree it is worth it due to it being one of the most well-kept beaches and the tamest.
Clark Street Beach and Park
Clark Street is another great beach to visit if you’re in Chicago. It is close to Evanston and is very similar to Highland Park. It too has a $10 fee, and guarantees a clean setting with a relaxing view. What sets it apart is its access to great local restaurants and bars.
