Edgewater
Edgewater is perfect for those looking to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago but also want to stay in touch with the heartbeat of the city. The location is a straight shot to the Loop – being the endpoint of Lake Shore Drive and having CTA links – even though it may seem significantly far on a map. While residential high-rises dominate the area, commercial strips are still available to the west. The neighborhood was once a summer home to the affluent Chicago families of old, and we can see why – the beaches dotting the east Lake Michigan coast provide beautiful, peaceful views.
The neighborhood also has an injection of lively energy from the close proximity of Loyola University in Rogers Park just to the north, and trendy shops have sprung up to cater to the student population. A wide variety of CPS and private high schools are also available in the area, and Edgewater also contains large gay and international communities as well.
Some notable restaurants in the area are Uncommon Ground, Calo Ristorante, and Big Jones
